Are “Award-Winning” Websites Getting an Edge in AI Search Results?

In a recent conversation (3/26) with a colleague of mine who is a well-known and established SEO expert, and one of the few people I actually listen to, we discussed an interesting trend that may be emerging in AI-driven search results.

As platforms like Google’s AI Overviews and other AI search tools increasingly summarize and recommend businesses, signals of credibility appear to be playing a larger role than ever before.

One signal that may be gaining importance is the presence of awards or recognitions on a business website.

Phrases such as “award-winning,” “best of,” or industry recognitions displayed on a site can act as trust indicators. When AI systems analyze content to determine which businesses to reference or recommend, these credibility signals may help reinforce the authority and reputation of a brand.

This does not mean that simply adding the phrase “award-winning” will automatically improve AI visibility.

AI systems still rely on a combination of signals, including but not limited to reviews, backlinks, citations, brand mentions, and overall website authority.

However, clearly showcasing legitimate awards, recognitions, or “best of” honors may strengthen the overall TRUST profile of a business online.

Aha! The “T” word!

For businesses thinking about AI search visibility, the takeaway is simple: if you have earned awards, recognitions, or industry honors, make sure they are clearly displayed on your website. In an AI-driven search environment, credibility signals matter more than ever.
